In midlife and beyond, sometimes you want a built-in accountability partner or two to pull you out of your comfort zone. Other times, you just want a feel-good way to start your day. I’ve got you!
It’s scientifically proven that getting outdoors, into nature, provides a healthy boost to your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Happy Trails throws in a boost to your social wellness, too!
We’ll meet early on Friday mornings at the Piestewa Peak trailheads in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve (roughly 22nd St. & Lincoln Dr.). Of course, this isn’t just a hike - I HAVE to add my unique twist✨

Let’s start with 5 minutes of quiet mindfulness as we get warmed up on the trail. Then we can chat on our way to our turnaround point.
We’ll snap a few photos (for those who want to be in them) and then head back to the parking lot with another 5 minutes of quiet mindfulness.
There’s a large covered veranda at the Ocotillo parking lot where I’ll lead a short stretching session for those who can stay. It’s a perfect way to wrap up our morning together and ensure our bodies get what they need to recover and stay healthy.
We’ll hike Nature Trail #304, an out-and-back trail 2.2 miles in total length. It is rated moderate difficulty with a 564 ft elevation gain (most of that is near the end as we head to our summit). The average completion time is 1 hour 13 minutes.
The trails are rocky which means they can be slippery and it’s easy to twist an ankle if you aren’t paying attention. I HIGHLY recommend shoes designed for hiking that have good tread on them.
You MUST bring at least 1L (32 oz) of water with you. Sunglasses and a hat are smart, too.
